Board approves consent agenda, payments‑in‑lieu and field trips; personnel and donations cleared

The Canal Winchester School Board approved a consent agenda and several routine action items on Jan. 6, including personnel recommendations, donations, and overnight field trips, and approved the district’s payment‑in‑lieu of transportation resolution for 2024–25.

Key items on the consent agenda included approval of minutes from the December meeting; donations to district programs (a scholarship donation in memory of Marilyn Malterer and contributions from wrestling and basketball booster clubs); classified personnel actions and retirements; athletic supplemental coach appointments; and two overnight trips: a spring break baseball trip to Cincinnati and Lexington, and a summer girls varsity tennis trip to Ontario, Canada. The board noted that passport costs for the Canada trip are the responsibility of parents; coaches said parents will provide transportation and that coach and volunteers will drive as needed.

The board also approved the tax advance resolution that authorizes the treasurer to request tax advances during the year and noted those amounts are used by the county auditor in setting millage rates. A separate routine vote approved the 2024–25 payment‑in‑lieu of transportation resolution, which the board said is a recurring calendar item.

All consent agenda and routine items were approved on roll calls with board members voting in the affirmative: Monica Talley, Mister Twist, Angela Barnes, Dave George and Miss Green. Final tally for the payment‑in‑lieu item and the consent agenda were unanimous among members present.
