Frisco police: stolen firearms mostly taken from vehicles; hiring pipeline improving

Shilson said the department’s hiring pipeline shows progress: seven experienced officer candidates from four states are in background processing and five additional recruits are in background; the department also has conditional offers out for dispatch positions. He added the city is positioned to hire 50 to 60 staff per year and that seven new sworn positions are anticipated mid‑budget year.
Shilson framed vehicle security as the most actionable step to reduce firearm thefts and requested community help: “take, lock, hide,” he said, urging residents to remove firearms from vehicles when possible and lock vehicles.
