Frisco Fire Department deploys crews to out-of-state fires, opens Citizen’s Fire Academy enrollment; Station 10 on schedule

The Frisco Fire Department told the council Tuesday that several personnel were deployed as mutual aid to other states and that Fire Department programs and infrastructure projects are on schedule.
The chief said the department responded through the Texas Interstate Fire Mutual Aid System to stage in Amarillo and later sent a four-city strike team to California to assist on the Palisades fire; members were expected to serve about two-week deployments. The chief noted Frisco wildland-certified firefighters are trained with Texas A&M Forest Service curricula for these assignments.
Locally, the department opened applications for Citizen’s Fire Academy Class 47; applications are being accepted through Jan. 31 and the class runs from Feb. 27 to April 24 on Thursday evenings. The chief said participants will learn department operations and may ride along on emergency calls.
The chief also reported Fire Station 10 is tracking on its projected timeline and budget with a hoped-for spring opening, and he briefed council on the TEEX symposium the department hosts periodically; the symposium draws regional fire-service leaders and had about 1,300 expected attendees in the current rotation.
Council thanked the department for the deployments and for community engagement efforts such as the academy and station updates.
