Commissioners approve vouchers; county notes uncertain oil tax outlook

Dunn County commissioners approved the day’s vouchers and reviewed the county financial summary. County staff reported gross production tax receipts and other revenues are tracking below the unusually high totals from the prior year, and commissioners said the county may be unlikely to realize an $8 million bump seen in the previous year.
The finance discussion noted the county is about 34% through the fiscal year and expenditures were at about 35.12% of budget as of April. Commissioners observed that oil prices and production will largely determine whether the county hits the previously budgeted $15 million of gross production tax revenue and that results are outside local control.
The board approved the bills as presented (with one administrative correction to a vendor name on a road pay item) by roll-call vote, and asked staff to continue monitoring revenues and bringing budget questions back to the board if conditions worsen.
