Board recognizes AmeriCorps NCCC 'Earth 3' team for three months of community service in Pinal County

Pinal County recognized a team of AmeriCorps NCCC members, hosted by the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, for trail work, classroom renovations and other projects across the county.
The Pinal County Board of Supervisors on April 2 recognized AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) team “Earth 3” for three months of service in Pinal County.
Esther Turner, a University of Arizona Cooperative Extension 4‑H agent, told the board the six-person team arrived in January and worked across the county, including in Superior and at the Maricopa Agricultural Center. Turner said the team completed classroom renovations, repaired irrigation, planted at the agricultural center and assisted with setup and implementation of the Pinal County 4‑H Fair.
Turner noted that a typical NCCC team is 12 members and that this year’s six-member team “had to do twice the amount of work” but remained highly effective.
Board action and recognition
The board invited the team forward for a photograph and thanked them for their service. Supervisors and staff praised the team’s contributions to youth programs, trails and community facilities.
