“I think it's a very valuable piece of, a tool. First and foremost, I couldn't even provide the insurance company the information that they request for, the cybersecurity insurance. This is a tool we use to collect that data,” said Rick, an IT staff member. He added the product notifies staff when passwords change or accounts are created or deleted so the county can verify changes are made by IT and not an outside cyber threat.
Staff said the county paid $12,443 for the product last year; the new three‑year contract totals $39,000 (about $13,000 per year). Commissioners voted to approve the 36‑month contract to lock the price through 2028. The meeting record shows the motion carried; a specific numeric vote tally was not specified in the transcript.
Before final execution, staff said they will attempt to negotiate payment terms. “I will try to see if I can negotiate 3 annual payments,” Rick said; he also said the county has funds in capital that could cover the subscription if required.
