The Ravalli County Board of County Commissioners on April 30 appointed residents to several county advisory bodies and commissions, filling vacancies on the collaborative, the fair board, the planning and zoning commission, and the Valley Veterans Service board.
Commissioners appointed John MacColl and Daniel McConnell to the collaborative after interviews; the board recorded the motion as approved by unanimous voice vote. Virginia Chaffin was appointed to the fair board to fill the chair’s former seat, with her term set to end Dec. 31, 2027. John Maciel was appointed to the planning and zoning commission with a term ending Dec. 31, 2027. Kristin Davis was appointed to the Valley Veterans Service board, also with a term ending Dec. 31, 2027.
The board said it had interviewed applicants for the posted openings; commissioners discussed applicants’ experience, including volunteer and fair-related backgrounds for the fair board seat and potential vendor conflicts for one applicant. Motions to appoint were moved and seconded and carried on voice votes, with the minutes recording unanimous ayes.
Several commissioners noted the goal of maintaining a balance of experience on the fair board between 4-H and rodeo interests. Commissioners asked that appointees serve through the stated term expirations and attend board meetings as required by each advisory body's bylaws.
