Staff told the committee the House version required DMV to follow state procurement procedures and submit an implementation timeline and reports to legislative committees by the end of the fiscal year. The conference carried both DMV items for later negotiation; no final conference action occurred during the session.
If adopted, the changes would allow for electronic titling services to be procured and provide DMV additional retained revenue from fee increases above the 2001 rate; both items were presented as carryover matters.
