Board approves four probationary teacher contracts for 2025–26 (motion 103)

The Northville Public Schools Board of Education voted Tuesday to approve motion 103, awarding probationary teacher contracts for the 2025–26 school year to four candidates recommended by district hiring teams.
Secretary Jennifer Meyer presented motion 103, which the board supported and then voted on. Central office staff summarized the candidates’ qualifications: Trent Tyson (mathematics, coming from Canton High School, Ball State alumnus, coaching experience); Dr. Ashley Brandenburg (French, Ph.D. in Romance Studies from Cornell, K–12 teaching experience); Elise Mackowick (special education resource room teacher, recent Michigan State University graduate with experience in special education settings); and Rachel Cornelia (Cook School special-education background and current SXI classroom teacher).
The board voted by voice. President McIntyre called for all in favor; board members responded “Aye.” No board member voiced opposition and the motion carried.
Board members welcomed the new hires and encouraged coordination with families and school teams; administration noted hiring filled positions created by retirements and one new classroom opening at Cook School.
