Clarkston board grants tenure to multiple teachers in May meeting

The Board of Education approved tenure for a group of teachers at the May 12 meeting after an oath and name reading led by Assistant Superintendent John Lucido.
John Lucido, assistant superintendent of administrative services, announced the district's 202425 10-year tenure recipients and led them forward to take the educator oath before the board. After an exchange acknowledging administrators and the significance of the recognition, a board member moved that the board approve the granting of tenure to the listed teachers. The motion was supported, board members expressed their congratulations, and the board adopted tenure by voice vote.
During the proceedings Lucido read the Michigan State Board of Education code of ethics and led attendees in the teacher's oath of office, which reaffirms adherence to the U.S. Constitution, the Michigan Constitution and the duties of the office of teacher.
The meeting minutes include the list of teachers called to receive tenure at the ceremony. Board members asked the tenured teachers to remain afterwards for photographs and acknowledged the challenge of teaching and the value of experienced staff.
