Student Services told the board the district has expanded use of EverFi lessons across grades, reported growth in student participation, and said packet data show updated enrollment figures.
ORANGEBURG, S.C. — The Orangeburg County School District told trustees on May 13 that districtwide use of the EverFi digital curriculum has expanded and that the district again earned EverFi Empower school-district recognition.
A Student Services presenter reviewed EverFi usage and impact data across financial education, health and wellness, workforce readiness, STEM and history lessons. “As of May, we’re actually at 11,000 students,” the presenter said when describing the second-year implementation; the presenter also noted the in-packet data were updated and reflected higher enrollments.
A staff clarifier told the board the packet contains newer data: “So, they have the 22,000, the new enrollments and the new data, which is actually better than the mid year,” the staff member said. The presenter said EverFi is available online and can also be delivered in offline, teacher-led lessons; the district has used the platform with career specialists and school counselors as well as classroom teachers.
The presentation included partners that support EverFi and local collaborations, including a partnership with MUSC that provided mental-health awareness lessons at Lake Marion Middle School, and reference to the Character Playbook program for seventh- and eighth-graders. The Student Services presenter said financial-literacy modules for grades 9–12 allow students who complete modules to apply for scholarships; EverFi tracks those scholarship applications.
The administration said the EverFi roll-out has shown measurable growth on pretest/posttest comparisons at participating schools and that district staff will continue promoting participation and recognition of high-usage schools.
