Pondera County approves $7,000 DPHHS contract to inspect food and lodging establishments

The Pondera County Commission approved a $7,000 contract with the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) to inspect licensed retail food and wholesale food establishments, trailer courts and campgrounds, and sleeping accommodations including hotels, motels, rooming and boarding houses, bed-and-breakfasts and vacation rentals for the 2025 calendar year.
According to the county sanitarian’s presentation to the commission, the county will not take on pool inspections or body‑art (tattoo) inspections under this contract. The sanitarian said those areas are being opted out of and invited others to assume those inspection duties if desired.
The motion to approve the contract was seconded and passed by a voice vote recorded in the transcript as “Aye” and “Motion carries.” The contract term in the transcript runs from Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2025, and the listed funding amount was $7,000.
The commission did not record a roll-call vote in the transcript. The board did not propose amendments to the contract during the meeting.
