A member of Friends of Du Forest addressed the Madison council during the public-comment portion of the Feb. 26 meeting, urging continued efforts toward a conservation sale to preserve the Du Forest parcel.
Judy Kroll, representing Friends of Du Forest, thanked the governing body for its prior commitments and said the group has advocated for nearly four years for a conservation sale that would benefit both the university and the community while protecting the forest’s educational, ecological and recreational values. “Friends of Du Forest remain available to act for and stand for the forest,” she said, and the group said it will continue to press negotiating parties to pursue a conservation sale so future generations can enjoy the site.
Council members acknowledged the comment and the group’s ongoing advocacy; no formal council action or motion on the Du Forest was recorded in the transcript during this meeting.
