The borough has submitted two grant applications for a Williams Field lighting project: one to the Local Area Recreation Improvement Program (LARIP) for $100,000 and another to Green Acres for $294,500. The administrator said the Green Acres grant is a 50% matching grant and the borough is seeking additional funding to offset the required local match.
Engineering is preparing construction-management proposals for the Main Street Improvement Project, and the borough has prepared application materials requested by a grant writer for an EPA sewer project on Pine and Neuse. The transcript records notice that Bergen County intends to pay for improvements on Milford Avenue from River Road to the Dumont line as part of its 2026–27 road program; the borough indicated preliminary work would proceed in advance of that county program.
The administrator said installation of electric-vehicle charging stations is scheduled to begin this week with chargers set in place by March and powered by April or May; locations listed were Borough Hall, the library and Knights Field. The PSE&G gas-main replacement project — referenced in prior meetings — is scheduled to begin in March, starting with Webster Drive, Pearl Lane and Hershefeld Place and continuing to Harrison Street, Grand Street, Pershing Avenue and River Road; the administrator said the work will take approximately three months and notices will be sent to affected homeowners.
Finally, the administrator reported the 2025 budget timeline is delayed roughly a month because revaluation information from the tax assessor arrived later than usual; introduction of the budget was anticipated on March 24 pending that data.
No formal votes were recorded on the engineering items during the meeting; council members and liaisons were asked to forward stakeholder contact information for a forthcoming community energy planning survey associated with a separate grant.
