The New Milford Mayor and Council agreed at the work session to rescind previously posted commuter-only parking restrictions on Stockton, Monmouth and Trenton streets, and the dead end of Henley, after police and residents reported that the signs had reduced commuter parking and that no recurring problems were observed.
Lieutenant Pagano (police) originally raised resident concerns about all-day commuter parking; police and staff reviewed the locations and reported no continued issues after removing the signs. A council member recommended rescinding the restrictions and monitoring conditions; council agreed.
Outcome: The council directed staff to remove the commuter signs from the listed locations and monitor for any return of commuter parking problems. If issues recur, the police and council will revisit restrictions.
Why it matters: The change restores daytime street parking for residents and visitors in the affected blocks and relieves enforcement related to commuter parking.
Next steps: Staff will remove signs and report back if complaints or enforcement issues reappear.
