Council adopts five ordinances and multiple resolutions in February work session

The Borough of New Milford Mayor and Council adopted five ordinances and a bundle of resolutions at a February 2025 work session, approving capital and budget-related measures and routine municipal updates.
The council voted to adopt a capital ordinance appropriating $82,232 for the Hardcastle Pond Improvement Project, funded by a Bergen County Open Space grant and the borough’s Open Space Trust Fund. The ordinance passed on final reading following a public hearing with no members of the public speaking.
The council also adopted a bond ordinance to authorize $220,000 for Americans with Disabilities Act–accessible restroom improvements at Borough Hall, to be funded by a Bergen County Community Development grant and by bond issuance.
Separately, members voted to amend the borough code to allow up to seven police sergeants in the New Milford Police Department and approved changes to Parks and Recreation fee schedules, adding and codifying fees for coordinators, site supervisors, referees and umpires.
