Tinton Falls council appoints Kash Parikh, seats zoning-board replacement and adopts commercial film permitting ordinance

Nomination and swearing-in: By motion and roll call the council nominated and approved Kash (Cash) Parikh for a council seat vacated earlier this year; the oath of office was administered at the dais. Parikh thanked the council and said he looked forward to serving the community.
Zoning-board appointment: The council approved Resolution R-25-062 to appoint a replacement to the zoning board to fill the vacancy left by Parikh’s departure from that body. The resolution passed on roll call.
Ordinance adoption: The council conducted a public hearing and then voted to adopt Ordinance 2025-15-25, which creates a new borough code section governing Commercial Film and Photography Permits. The roll-call vote on the ordinance was recorded as affirmative by each member present.
Budget introduction: The council voted to introduce the 2025 municipal budget (Resolution R-25-063) and scheduled the required public hearing for May 20. The introduction passed by roll call.
Other motions: The council approved the March 18, 2025 meeting minutes (with Councilman Parikh recorded as abstaining on that vote), approved the consent agenda and voted separately to introduce an ordinance related to exceeding municipal appropriation limits (ordinance 2025-15-26) for the purpose of establishing a ‘‘cap bank’’ as described in the title read into the record.
Public comment: During the public-comment period, a resident, Freddie Boynton of Cherry Street, complained about police patrol frequency and local crime responses. Borough officials said the police had followed up and made arrests in the area after Mr. Boynton’s most recent contact with the department.
Ending: The council closed the meeting after approving a motion to adjourn at 9:01 p.m.
