Glassboro Council approves three police promotions and conducts ceremonial swearing-in

The Glassboro Borough Council adopted resolutions promoting Steven Cavallaro to lieutenant, Joseph Armada to sergeant and Ver Nelson to corporal in the Glassboro Police Department and conducted a ceremonial swearing-in at the council meeting.

The promotions were approved by roll call after the borough solicitor read the resolutions appointing the officers. The council then proceeded with a ceremonial portion in which each promoted officer recited the oath of office administered by the solicitor.

The promotions matter to residents because they change the department’s supervisory structure and were accompanied by public recognition: the council also honored Corporal Andrew Roberts as supervisor of the year and Patrolman Kane as officer of the year. The council received a retirement letter from Officer Kenneth Kuzniaz, effective April 1, 2025, which it placed on the record.

During the ceremony the solicitor administered the oath of office to each promoted officer and attendees included members of the council and family members; the council thanked the officers and invited citizens to remain after the ceremonial portion. No policy motions or operational directives were recorded as part of the promotions beyond the formal resolutions.

The ceremonial portion concluded and the meeting proceeded to the evening’s regular agenda, including public hearings and consent-agenda votes.
