The Warren County Finance/Budget Committee approved a package of personnel and organizational actions spanning labor agreements, new positions and equipment purchases.
The committee voted to approve a resolution backing a collective bargaining agreement between SUNY Adirondack and the Faculty Association of Adirondack Community College for the term beginning Sept. 1, 2025, through Aug. 31, 2028; the resolution was described as contingent on a similar action by Washington County but supervisors clarified Washington County had already acted.
The information technology department requested $22,400 from the August computer reserve fund to purchase computers and related equipment for various departments; the committee approved the transfer.
Several table‑of‑organization changes were approved: creation of a probation officer trainee position (grade 16, base annual salary $57,270 effective May 16, 2025) funded by shifting an existing probation officer line into a trainee line; creation of a contingent patrol officer position (annual salary $56,111 effective June 1, 2025) for the sheriff's department to support academy training and hiring cycles; authorization of temporary positions and training slots for the Summer Youth Employment Program for program year 2025 (July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026); and a temporary motor vehicle/registration clerk position not to exceed $10,000 to help the clerk's office address backlog related to Real ID and enhanced driver's licenses.
Supervisors discussed that the probation trainee approach is a common method to fund training while a trainee progresses into a full officer slot. The motor vehicle position was described as largely to address a backlog, possibly filled by a retired worker returning temporarily. All personnel items were approved on voice votes as presented.
