County alerted to $1.5M NextGen 9-1-1 award; committee approves posting deputy fire coordinator

Washington County officials told the Public Safety Committee the county is a recipient of a NextGen 9-1-1 communications grant worth about $1.5 million to support system upgrades. The announcement came as county emergency services staff discussed 911 improvements and associated radio communications upgrades.
A county official said the funds will support both NextGen 9-1-1 and radio communications upgrades. Separately, staff reported a pending retirement of a deputy fire coordinator and asked permission to post the position. The committee approved beginning the personnel-posting process and referred related steps to the personnel committee.
Officials also noted the county had updated its domestic terrorism plan using a master service agreement with Tetra Tech to meet new state requirements and that the plan was electronically submitted to the state before the stated deadline.
