MANSFIELD, Texas — The Mansfield City Council approved an amendment to the professional‑services agreement with Perkins and Will for design work on the city’s multipurpose sports venue, adding $364,850 to the contract to cover design changes identified during guaranteed‑maximum‑price (GMP) negotiations with the contractor.
City staff said the amendment contains three elements: $167,775 for structural engineering work tied to changing from a structural slab to a slab‑on‑grade; $152,075 for other changes identified in the GMP budget‑control log; and $45,000 to add design services for food‑service equipment that were not in the original contract.
“From a structural engineer, there was 167,775, from going from a structural slab to a slab on grade. There was other items in their budget control log, as they went through the GMP and that, changes on those design plans was $152,075. And then finally, design service for food service equipment was not included in the original contract, and that is 45,000,” a city staff presenter told the council.
A councilmember cautioned the contractor and construction manager at risk (CMAR) about further changes or delays. Councilmember Brosh said he would vote to approve but urged the project team to avoid additional amendments and permit delays. “We do not expect to see any more delays… I want personally to see no delays in the acquiring of permits and no more additions, no more amendments to this,” Brosh said.
Council approved the amendment; the meeting record shows the action carried unanimously.
