MANSFIELD, Texas — The Mansfield City Council on Feb. 10 authorized staff to apply for and expend multiple public-safety and transportation grants, approved a contract amendment for a street-design project and tabled a separate land purchase, voting unanimously on each final action.
The council approved a resolution authorizing the city to apply for a Criminal Justice Division grant from the Office of the Governor to purchase modular vehicular barriers in an amount not to exceed $98,940. Councilmember Julie Short asked whether the new barriers would replace rental barricades used for parades; Police Chief Aaron replied that the barriers are “more defensive” and intended to secure soft targets at large public events rather than to replace all rental street barricades.
