Organizer asks Wimberley council for trailer parking and support for Hot Rod Showdown

WIMBERLEY, Texas — William Martinez of Round Rock told the Wimberley City Council on Feb. 6 that his Hot Rod Showdown draws vehicles and visitors from across the country and that organizers need space for trailer parking.
"We have it over at 7 A Ranch," Martinez said. He described the event as a pre-1948 car show that started in February 2019 and said this year the venue and local lodging, including the Wimberley Inn, sold out. Martinez said about 25% of visiting vehicles arrive on trailers and that organizers lack dedicated trailer parking.
Mayor Jim responded that Martinez should "get with Michelle" and that staff would help address parking and logistics. Michelle Woods, the city's tourism director, will coordinate with organizers and post relevant information, the council secretary said.
Council took no formal action on the request; staff advised the presenter to coordinate with the tourism department and event staff for parking and promotion.
