Staff described safety and operational measures for the event, including road closures to keep the public out of the detonation area and established fall-out radii for shells and debris. The fireworks will serve as the conclusion to a concert series at Grandscape; staff said the promoter shifted entertainment budget to increase the size of the display and scheduled it for the night before the city’s Liberty by the Lake July 4 celebration to avoid overlapping the two major displays.
The council approved the ordinance exception as a consent item. Councilmember Inswiler moved approval and Councilmember Holtz seconded; the motion passed.
