Council approves funding for small boardwalk at Patsy Glen wetland overflow

Wimberley City Council unanimously approved funding to build a short elevated boardwalk over a wetland overflow on the Patsy Glen section of the Blue Hole nature trail.
Parks Director Richard Shaver introduced the item and representatives from the birding society explained the project was previously budgeted but not completed in the last fiscal year; the item was reintroduced to secure funding and finish the work. The boardwalk would span a section where overflow from a constructed wetland crosses the trail and has washed out part of the path. The project includes a low-profile boardwalk slightly above the trail surface and rock reinforcement at the waterway edges to limit future erosion.
Council considered whether the item had been previously funded; staff said the project was included in last year's budget cycle but not completed and is now being reintroduced as a funding request. A motion to approve funding for the boardwalk passed unanimously. Council then directed staff to proceed with implementation under Parks & Recreation oversight.
