The Huntsville City Council met in a special session at 9:37 a.m. and unanimously adopted Ordinance 2025-14 to canvass the returns of a May 3, 2025 special local option election on legalizing the sale of all alcoholic beverages, including mixed beverages.
The action charged the city to canvass the election returns and declare the results. Councilman Fossum moved adoption of the ordinance and Councilman Strong seconded; the mayor then called for a voice vote and the motion passed with no recorded opposition and no further discussion.
"Motion to adopt ordinance 20 25 dash 14 to canvass the returns of the special local option election held on the May 2025 for the purpose of legalizing the sale of all alcoholic beverages, including mixed beverages, declaring the results of of the city of Huntsville, Texas, May Third 20 20 5 Election," Councilman Fossum said when making the motion. Councilman Strong said, "I'll second that, mayor." The mayor called for the vote and members responded "Aye." The mayor noted there was no additional discussion before the vote.
The meeting opened at about 9:37 a.m. and concluded at 9:40 a.m. The special session record shows no public comments or separate debate on the ordinance during the session.
