City staff told the Allen City Council the city recently received four national awards covering financial reporting, budgeting and purchasing practices.
A city staff member noted the city’s annual comprehensive financial report (formerly called the comprehensive annual financial report) earned recognition after an annual audit, and staff also received a Distinguished Budgeting Practice award for clear priority setting and budgeting work. The city also produced a Popular Annual Financial Report aimed at making finances accessible to residents and received an award from the National Purchasing Institute for procurement practices.
The staff member described the finance and purchasing teams as experienced and conscientious, noting staff training and volunteer activities undertaken by team members. He said the National Purchasing Institute recognition reflects review of the city’s purchasing processes and compliance with state statutes.
Mayor Bain Brooks and the council invited the award recipients forward for recognition. Staff asked the council to acknowledge the team and accept the awards; the council applauded and the item concluded with staff photo opportunities.
