Community Engagement Advisory Board details survey results, plans fall collaboration summit

Kelly Johnson, chair of Allen’s Community Engagement Advisory Board, presented the board’s annual report at the April 20 council meeting and outlined a 2025 priority to host a pilot collaboration summit this fall.
Johnson said the board’s purpose is to advise council and staff on outreach strategies and civic connection and that their work maps to City Council Goal 5: an engaged and connected community. She told council the board partnered with the city’s PAMRO team to run the city’s first community engagement survey; the online and in‑person outreach produced roughly 400 responses and is already informing next steps.
The board recommended testing a collaboration summit to bring city partners together around targeted engagement needs identified in the survey. Johnson said staff and the board intend to use the pilot to refine methods, learn from partners and scale successful approaches over time. She reported the board feels on schedule with its projected timeline and will seek partners for the fall pilot.
Council members thanked the board for its leadership and for using a data-driven approach to strengthen partnerships and outreach. The presentation closed with council encouragement to use the survey findings to inform cross‑departmental collaboration and future engagement priorities.
