Councilmember Tim Dupree asked the North Richland Hills City Council on May 14 to consider creating an Aging Citizens Advisory Board to help coordinate services, identify grants and ensure older residents’ voices are included in municipal decision-making.
"I would like to propose ... look into establishing a new board, the North Richland Hills Aging Citizens Advisory Board," Dupree said. He outlined possible functions including resource coordination with nonprofits and health-care providers, identifying grant opportunities and advising the city on programs for older residents.
Council agreed to put the proposal on a future work session agenda so staff can return with answers to questions about establishing a board. The mayor indicated there was consensus to bring back the items and details at a later meeting.
No formal action to create the board was taken at the May 14 meeting; staff will prepare background information and options for council consideration at the future meeting.
