Council agrees to review and potentially release documents tied to April 9 special meeting after procedural fight over agenda and minutes

A unanimous City Council voted to place a proposal on a future regular-session agenda to review and consider releasing communications and documents related to a special meeting and a resolution read April 9 that publicly reprimanded Councilmember Blake Vaughn.

The action followed an extended, sometimes heated discussion about the structure of the evening’s agenda and an earlier parliamentary dispute over moving routine items (including citizen presentations and meeting minutes) later in the meeting. Vaughn asked the Council to put on a future agenda a request that staff and the city attorney produce “all correspondence, drafts, emails, and related documentation” associated with the special meeting and resolution and to consider waiving attorney-client privilege where appropriate so voters could review materials tied to a referendum he said he is gathering signatures to trigger.
