Brown County landfill wins grants, commission approves new BOMAG compactor purchase

Mike Scott, Brown County landfill manager, told the Brown County Commission that the landfill was awarded two solid-waste grants after a March 27 hearing and recommended buying a new compactor.
Scott said one grant covers a portion of cell five construction — "about 18.2% of that amount, which amount to about $675,000" — and a second grant for the compactor is "around $213,000" and represents a 20% grant. "All the grant funds have been used up for this year," Scott said.
Scott recommended the commission accept a TransSource bid for a BOMAG 773RB-5 compactor.…
