Council waives Class F liquor license fee for Rhythm & Roots festival

The Charlestown Town Council on May 12 unanimously approved waiving the Class F liquor-license application fee for the Rhythm and Roots festival and granted the license for the event dates specified in the application.
The public hearing on the application was opened and no members of the public signed up to speak. Town staff reported that South County Tourism (the organizer) routinely receives a waiver for the license fee because the agency already pays other event fees; the town clerk confirmed the fee waiver is consistent with past practice.
Councilor Sloane moved to approve the fee waiver and the Class F liquor-license application as presented; Councilor Marr seconded. The council approved the motion 5–0. The license covers August 29, 30 and 31, 2025, with alcohol service scheduled from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. each day at Ninigret Park.
