Select Board approves 2025 Live Nation license agreement with updated weather-delay language

The Mansfield Select Board unanimously approved the town's 2025 license and entertainment agreement with Live Nation on March 5, the board said.

Town staff told the board the packet included a redline that showed minimal changes from the prior year; the only substantive edit added a process for weather-related delays. Under the revised language, the venue general manager or designee will consult with public safety and the town manager and then recommend to the select board chair whether to extend the venue's 11 p.m. curfew in the event of weather-related delay or disruption. Staff said the parties will "work in good faith to extend the 11PM curfew as needed for the public safety."

Select Board members said they had reviewed the document and public safety had reviewed it as well. One board member asked whether the town pays the venue for use of the Xfinity Center for town events such as graduations; venue representative Jason (online) confirmed that Mansfield and Norton high-school graduations are held at the venue with no rental fee, though the schools pay staffing costs for services the venue provides.

A member asked whether an accompanying community-benefits agreement (CBA) or clearer written process could be created to document expected capital and personnel arrangements; staff and the venue representative said scheduling and capital requests operate on an annual cycle tied to the venue's internal schedule, which complicates multi-year guarantees but that formalizing a process could be discussed for future years.

The motion to approve the 2025 Live Nation license agreement and entertainment license passed unanimously.
