Charlestown council approves $16.46 million FY 2025–26 budget for June 2 referendum

The Charlestown Town Council on May 12 approved the proposed fiscal year 2025–26 budget, $16,459,696, and authorized the town clerk to take all actions needed to place the budget before voters at the financial town referendum on June 2, 2025.
The council said a public budget hearing was held the prior week and drew minimal comment; with no requests for changes, the council put the budget on the ballot. Councilor Sarah made the motion to approve the budget as presented; the motion was seconded by Councilor Sloane and passed unanimously, 5–0.
The referendum will be held June 2 at the Charlestown Town Hall Council Chambers; town officials said mail-ballot applications are available on request from the town clerk’s office. The vote will determine adoption of the municipal spending plan for the 2025–26 fiscal year.
