Board approves minutes, treasurer's report and OHSAA membership; moves to executive session

The Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Local School District board approved routine business items and entered executive session during the meeting.

Trustees approved the minutes for the Feb. 13, 2025 and Feb. 27, 2025 meetings. Both motions passed by voice roll calls that recorded four affirmative votes and no negatives.

The board also approved the treasurer's report for February 2025. The treasurer reported the district is 67% of the way through the fiscal year and that revenues and expenditures are “for the most part in line,” noting real estate tax receipts were higher because of advances received; however, the treasurer warned that federal funding changes could affect future revenue streams, citing a news report that USDA grants to purchase food from local farmers may be curtailed while the district continues to receive USDA funds for free and reduced-price lunches. The treasurer noted the district receives about $400,000 a year from federal sources and said uncertainty about Department of Education programs, including Impact Aid, could have fiscal implications.

The board voted to recommend continued membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) for Bellbrook High School and Bellbrook Middle School for the 2025–26 school year; the motion passed 4–0.

Later in the agenda trustees moved into an executive session “for the purpose of considering the sale of property, competitive bidding or other disposition of unneeded, obsolete, or unfit for use property,” the board said, citing the revised code and RC 121.22(G)(2). The motion to enter executive session passed by roll call with four affirmative votes; the board stated it did not intend to take any action after the executive session.

No additional formal actions were recorded on the policy items discussed at first reading.
