Board approves consent agenda and flexible supplemental MOU; hires middle‑school principal, new high‑school teacher

The Bellbrook‑Sugarcreek Local School District board approved consent agenda personnel items, welcomed a new high‑school science hire and approved a memorandum of understanding that adds three flexible supplemental duty positions in the 2025–26 school year.

Superintendent Dr. Kozad announced hires and resignations included in the consent agenda; the board approved items 6a–6d and 6e (consent agenda) by roll call. The motion to approve the consent agenda was moved by Mrs. Dorn and seconded by Mrs. Anderson and passed by recorded vote.

Board member Mr. Haines introduced Kelly Savage, described as a nine‑year classroom teacher from Clinton‑Massey High School who will join the district as a high‑school science teacher.

The board also introduced Mr. Klein as the district’s new middle‑school principal; the superintendent said Klein previously served as assistant principal at the high school and at BCI and has middle‑school teaching experience. Mr. Klein addressed the board and said he would begin work preparing for next year immediately.

Separately, the board approved a memorandum of understanding with the Sherry Creek Education Association to add three flexible supplemental duty positions (two at the middle school and one at Stephen Bell Elementary) that the administration said will allow principals to assign stipends year‑to‑year for clubs or activities as student interest changes. The school will allocate one of the supplementals to the middle‑school chess club for at least the next two years.

The motion to approve the MOU was moved by Mrs. Dorn, seconded by Mrs. Anderson and passed on a roll call vote where each listed member voted yes; the board observed these are renewed items and would be re‑negotiated in future contract cycles.
