Members discussed funding possibilities raised by external parties, including a Brownfield grant and a Greene County grant. The board noted that a Brownfield grant would need to go through CIC (as stated in the meeting) and that the Greene County grant, while rolling, would likely not cover a complete teardown of the property. The board also heard from community members that preserving the downtown appearance and avoiding decisions that degrade the neighborhood character are priorities.
Board logistics and next steps included an invitation to the township to present detailed plans at the Feb. 27 meeting; several members requested more time for information-gathering and at least one member said they would be absent on Feb. 27 and asked the board to avoid finalizing a decision that day if possible.
No formal vote or decision to divest or redevelop the property was taken at this meeting; the item was set for additional discussion and for the township to present at a future meeting.
