Bedford Board of Education approves two contracts, then moves into executive session

District staff explained that a separate service contract would cover duties previously performed by a retired employee. "This is as a result of [Miss Warkle]. She retired in January," said a district staff member, describing changes to staffing and duties. The district said the position has been dissolved, some responsibilities reassigned internally, and a portion of the former role will be handled by Neonet, a service the district already uses. A motion to approve a service contract for the executive director of academic achievement with Neonet was made by Miss Macklin, seconded by Miss Boynton, and approved 5-0.
Board members clarified that the contract shifts some functions to Neonet while other duties will be absorbed by existing district staff; the district described the net cost as a fraction compared with paying a full salary and benefits but did not provide a dollar amount.
After completing those votes the board moved into executive session. The motion to enter executive session to "discuss the purchase, acquisition, lease, transfer, or sale of real, personal, or other property interests" was moved by Miss Boynton and seconded by Miss Macklin; roll call was unanimous. Board members announced they would not vote or return to the livestream after the executive session.
