Fremont City Schools board approves third-grade paper test resolution, personnel, financial and tax-budget items; moves to executive session

The Fremont City Schools Board of Education on Feb. 10 approved a series of routine agenda items, including a resolution allowing paper test administration for third-grade English language arts, several personnel actions, the monthly financial report and the district's tax budget completion for the next fiscal cycle. The board then voted to enter executive session and stated it would take no action afterward.

Paper test administration for third-grade ELA The board approved a resolution permitting paper test administration for third-grade English language arts (item 1). The motion was moved by Missus Bloom and seconded by Miss Lehman; roll-call votes as read at the meeting were recorded as yes from Missus Bloom, Miss Lehman, Miss Lewis, Mister Nally and Mister Price. The motion was approved.

Personnel approvals (items 2'5) The board approved several personnel actions including the hiring of Carly Deal as a certified staff substitute and support staff, special event workers, winter-tournament athletics workers and a status change for an existing child-nutrition employee. Motion to approve items 2 through 5 was moved by Miss Lehman and seconded by Miss Lewis; the board approved the motion by roll call.

Financial report (item 6) The board approved the monthly financial report on a motion by Missus Bloom with a second by Miss Lehman. The treasurer reported routine year-end wrap-up activities, discussed state budget simulations from the governor's proposed budget and warned that state budget figures can change during legislative negotiations; the board approved the financial report by roll call.

Tax budget completion (item 7) The board approved the final step to complete the tax budget process for fiscal 2026 (item 7). The treasurer said this action affirms the tax budget previously discussed in January and that the packet will be sent to the county auditor so the district can receive collections for bonds and levies. Motion to approve item 7 was moved by Miss Lewis and seconded by Miss Lehman; the motion carried by roll call.

Executive session The board moved into executive session under the stated agenda item (item b). The motion was seconded by Miss Lewis and carried by roll call. The board announced it would take no board action following executive session and would adjourn after executive session.
