Andrea Edmonds, a school liaison from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, told the Fairborn City Schools Board that April is the Month of the Military Child and described services her office provides to military-connected students across the region.
Edmonds said she represents and supports military-connected students who attend Fairborn schools and students in about 35 surrounding districts. Citing data she said came from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, Edmonds said Fairborn City Schools has “approximately 12% of the students having ties to the military.” She also said Fairborn is recognized as a Purple Star School district, an award that recognizes schools that demonstrate a commitment to supporting military families.
“Fairborn City Schools exemplifies this commitment every day,” Edmonds said, thanking the board and administrators for their partnership. She described the school-liaison program’s focus on outreach, advocacy and partnership initiatives to assist students through educational transitions.
Board members thanked Edmonds and the district noted partnering with Wright-Patterson on events and student supports. The transcript records no formal board action tied to the presentation; Edmonds’ remarks were delivered as a district presentation during the meeting’s school-district presentations section.
Ending
Edmonds closed by thanking the board and district leadership; the board acknowledged the partnership and continued support for military-connected students.
