North Ridgeville board honored during School Board Recognition Month; students and staff named

At its Jan. 27 meeting, the North Ridgeville City Schools Board of Education received a mayoral proclamation recognizing January as School Board Recognition Month; the district also presented student- and staff-of-the-month awards.
The North Ridgeville City Schools Board of Education was recognized by Mayor Kevin Corcoran during its regular meeting on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, when the mayor presented a proclamation marking January as School Board Recognition Month.
The proclamation, read by Corcoran, thanked board members Frank Vaca, Kelly McCarthy, Marcy Saxon, Jeff Grigsby and Dr. David Haynes for “their dedication and hard work” and for establishing “the policies and procedures that guide all aspects of school district operations.” Corcoran said the community “recognizes quality education as an essential foundation for success and growth in the lives of our children.”
The recognition segment also featured the district’s monthly student- and staff-of-the-month presentations. Andrea Vance, principal of the Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC), introduced preschool honorees including Nora Heller (preschool; teacher Misty Abato) and Ryker Voyles (preschool; teacher Mrs. Dietz). Other students recognized across grade levels included Hudson Hobbs (kindergarten), Abigail Jackson (first grade), Ian Selinger (second grade), and a slate of students from Interact and middle/high school programs: Sofia Haceras (fourth grade), James Shuliva (grade not specified), Brinley Hansen (not present), Vivian Kane (eighth grade), Mackenzie Hollis (Ranger program), Jonathan Jaworski (eighth grade), Ibrahim Alvaro (senior) and Lola Singleton (senior candidate for 2025).
Annie Hofstetler, director of human resources, presented the staff-of-the-month awards. Lynn Prince, a social studies teacher and department head at the high school, was honored for her role in developing the district’s advanced placement program and for department leadership. Joseph Lukacsinski, a long-serving custodial substitute, was recognized for his reliability and work ethic.
Superintendent-level remarks and multiple principals and coaches offered brief tributes and nomination notes for the students and staff. The board paused briefly after the recognitions for photographs.

Board members and district leaders encouraged public attendance at upcoming events; the board noted the city’s State of North Ridgeville event scheduled for Feb. 25 and asked residents to consult the Chamber of Commerce website for details.
