Several residents urged caution in implementing House Bill 8 and related policy changes, saying those measures could force disclosure of students’ gender identities and limit access to services; a commenter noted lawsuits challenging related executive orders and asked the board to be careful in how it adapts district practice. Another speaker expressed concern about counselors following professional ethical standards.
One resident told the board he had reviewed the check registers posted with the district agenda and found apparent errors: duplicated October entries across multiple years that made it difficult to reconcile monthly totals. He asked the board to correct the check‑register posting and ensure transparency in financial records.
Board members acknowledged the public comments and said the district will continue to review policy language, seek legal guidance and post materials for public review as part of the policy‑adoption process.
