Board extends public relations contract for a short term while district recruits full-time PR staff

The Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education on Jan. 28 approved a short extension of the district's public relations services contract to provide continuity while the district completes recruitment for a full-time public-relations position.
Superintendent Dr. Felicia Gould said the previous PR employee, Laura Forshone, had served in a combined role (technology integration and PR) and resigned; she has been retained temporarily as a consultant while the district completes the search. "Telling our story before someone else tells our story is public relations," Gould said, explaining the need for a daily in-house presence to handle media requests, social media and rapid community communication.
A board member asked why the district needed a contracted PR person and why the position was not filled internally; Gould replied the district will evaluate bringing the role in‑house as soon as feasible and that interns are assisting in the interim with content and event documentation.
Board members supported moving to a full-time PR staffer; the motion to extend the current service was approved by roll call vote with all members voting yes.
