Emergency management promotes Amber Clark; Wyndham tower equipment still pending

Emily Yates, McPherson County Emergency Management and Communications Director, told commissioners on May 12 that the department has two personnel moves and awaits equipment for the Wyndham tower.
Yates recommended promoting Amber Clark from communications technician to communications shift supervisor, citing her nine years of service, training responsibilities and high call-performance scores: "Our threshold is 80%. She consistently scores over 95%." Commissioners approved the promotion effective May 11. Yates also said Jolanna Carr asked to step down from a supervisor role and will move from a 15I salary grade to 13I, which the board also approved effective May 11.
On interagency infrastructure, Yates said the Wyndham tower is erected but the department is still waiting on shipment of microwave equipment and final testing. "Once they get that, it shouldn't take very much longer then," she said. The department reported no meeting last week for the tower project because of the shipment delay.
Yates said staffing is improving: she reported three people currently in training and expected full staffing once a candidate completes a two-week notice period. She said the department is tracking NCIC validations and shift scheduling as part of supervisor duties.
