Commissioners approve $12,187.49 bid to repair county health department restroom sewer line

County maintenance staff described a failed sewer line in a Health Department restroom and presented bids to the commissioners on May 12.
Joshua, maintenance supervisor, said a sewer line feeding one of the facility's bathrooms had a low point and backing issues that left that fixture out of service. "It's about 44 feet from the clean out ... that's where the water and waste is collecting, and it's backing up into the actual fill bin. So, currently, it's currently out of order," Joshua said.
Two bids were presented. A maintenance staff member reported the low bid was $12,187.49 from a local plumbing contractor. "Mister chairman, I move that we approve the bid from a person quality air, and plumbing, which is $12,187.49 for the repair at the county health department," a commissioner moved; a second was recorded and the motion carried by voice vote.
The board agreed there was no separate contract signature required at the meeting and that procurement would proceed under normal procedures. No additional funding allocations were announced during the meeting.
