Pepper Pike staff reported April 8 that Cleveland Water has awarded funding to replace the aging water main on Trillium Trail in the Brook/Norfolk subdivision area.
City engineering staff said the segment has been a frequent site of water breaks. The award is part of Cleveland Water’s suburban water-main renewal program; city staff said the grant will cover most of the replacement cost and that the city will resurface the street after the work is complete. Staff added that lining older mains can be an option in some instances, but this segment requires full replacement.
Engineering staff said the rest of the subdivision received a water-main replacement around 30 years ago, and this leftover segment is now due for renewal. The project is expected to go into design this year with the goal to bid the work once design is complete.
Staff also said they will present a visual map of current and planned infrastructure projects at a future meeting so council and residents can see what projects are scheduled.
