The Washington Court House City Council on Jan. 22 confirmed five appointments and reappointments to local boards and commissions and voted to place a resolution supporting Ohio—s American 250 observance on first reading.
By unanimous roll-call votes, the council approved Resolution R1-2025 reappointing Tammy Batch to the Board of Zoning Appeals through Dec. 31, 2028; R2-2025 confirming Martin Renison to the Veil Service Commission through Dec. 31, 2027; R3-2025 reappointing Branson Moody to the Board of Zoning Appeals through Dec. 31, 2028; R4-2025 reappointing Kirk Wilson to the City Planning Commission through Dec. 31, 2028; and R5-2025 appointing Michelle Patton to a committee through Dec. 31, 2028.
Council members also approved procedural business including acceptance of the Jan. 8 meeting minutes and the Service, Safety and Recreation Committee report, which summarized year-end police and fire statistics, snow-removal operations and recent water-main work.
The council introduced Resolution R6-2025, "a resolution authorizing the city courthouse, Fayette County, Ohio, supporting the Ohio Commission for the United States semiquincentennial (American 250 OH)," and voted to place it on first reading. No final adoption occurred at the Jan. 22 meeting.

Why it matters: these appointments fill seats on boards that advise zoning, planning and service functions in the city and ensure statutory bodies remain staffed. R6 is an authorization to participate in and support state-level American 250 observances; the council took the procedural step of placing that resolution on first reading for later consideration.
The meeting record shows unanimous votes for the listed items; minutes and committee reports will be reflected in the official record stored by the city clerk.
