Council adopts one resolution, sets multiple ordinances and resolutions for readings

The Washington Court House City Council voted Feb. 12 to adopt Resolution R6-2025 and moved a slate of ordinances and resolutions onto first reading or future consideration.

Resolution R6-2025 was adopted by roll call vote; the resolution text was read into the record and the roll call showed unanimous support among members present. The meeting record lists the motion and a subsequent roll-call vote with all present council members recorded as "Yes." The transcript shows the motion to adopt followed by a second and roll call in which "Chrisman," "Hawk," "Johnson," "Blair," "Cole," "Lynch" and others answered yes.

Several other legislative items were placed on first reading or introduced without final action: Ordinance No. 1-2025 (annexation and original zoning for 85.669 acres) and Ordinance No. 2-2025 (amendments to Chapter 110 of the city income tax code to comply with House Bill 33) were read and placed on first reading. Resolutions R7-2025 (authorizing the city manager to enter an agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation for purchase of bulk highway rock salt), R8-2025 (opposing proposed utility distribution rate increases), and R9-2025 (authorizing transfer of 50.566 acres, parcel 215-020-0-00-014-00, to the Community Improvement Corporation of Fayette County and Washington Courthouse) were also introduced and placed on first reading.

The council approved minutes from the Jan. 22 meeting and voted to excuse Councilmember Steve Schultz, who was absent due to illness. The meeting adjourned following the evening’s business.

A special meeting was scheduled to consider related industrial-park property legislation (R9) on Feb. 20 at 8:30 a.m., as discussed later in the session.
