County: State Route 36 interchange construction to start this fall; Orange Road separation expected 2027–28

In the administrator’s report, Delaware County Administrator Tracy Davies updated the Board of Commissioners on Transportation Improvement District projects and township agreements.
Davies said the first phase of the State Route 36 interchange is expected to go under construction this fall and that bids came in about 25% below estimate. “Hopefully, we'll be able to transfer some of our track funding over to future phases,” Davies said, noting potential savings from lower-than-expected bids.
Davies said the Orange Road railroad grade separation project continues to move forward but that county staff are waiting for feedback from the railroad; she said construction is anticipated to begin in late 2027 but more likely in 2028. The board also approved an agreement with Orange Township for the next phase of Veil Canyon Road; that project came in under estimate as well.
Davies described the Stockwell Road improvements as a joint project among the TID and Berkshire, Kingston, Porter and Trenton townships; she said those townships will apply for Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) funds for the work. No formal votes were taken on these informational items during the administrator report; the board received the updates and acknowledged staff’s efforts.
