Greenham said the amendment clarifies that the upstairs will include a single short-term rental unit (rather than the broader language previously used) and extends the deadline for completing the upstairs unit to April of next year. Greenham said the developer has already met the program’s minimum investment threshold and that the first-floor community space is expected to open in June or July.
Greenham invited representatives of Primo Properties, identified in the meeting as Kate and Heather, to be present for questions; none were asked by council at the May 14 meeting. The staff presentation included photos of the renovated interior and noted that staff had visited the site over the winter.
Why this matters: The amendment adjusts expectations and timeline for a publicly supported redevelopment project in a downtown building. The city is allowing additional time for the developer to complete the upstairs unit while the ground-floor community amenity nears opening.
Council did not take a separate recorded vote on the amendment during the May 14 presentations; staff said the amendment is before council for consideration.
